     Deamination is the removal of an amino group \[(-N{{H}_{2}})\] from a compound. It occurs in liver  and important for protein metabolism especially their degradation. In hepatocytes, glutamate is transported from the cytosol into the mitochondria, where it undergoes oxidative deamination   catalysed   by   L-glutamate dehydrogenase. A kidney has about 10 lakh structural and functional units called nephrons (uriniferous tubules).
