  • question_answer
If a charged spherical conductor of radius 10 cm has potential V at a point distant 5 cm , from its centre, then the potential at a point distant 15 cm from the centre will be

    A) \[\frac{1}{3}V\]

    B)  \[\frac{2}{3}V\]

    C)  \[\frac{3}{2}V\]

    D)  \[3V\]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Potential inside the sphere will be same as that on its surface ie,\[V={{V}_{surface}}=\frac{q}{10}\text{stat}-\text{volt}\] \[{{V}_{out}}=\frac{q}{15}\text{stat}-\text{volt}\] \[\therefore \] \[\frac{{{V}_{out}}}{V}=\frac{2}{3}\Rightarrow {{V}_{out}}=\frac{2}{3}V\]
