The ionic conductance of\[B{{a}^{2+}}\]and\[C{{l}^{-}}\]are respectively\[127\]and\[76\,\,oh{{m}^{-1}}-c{{m}^{2}}\]at infinite dilution. The equivalent conductance\[(in\,\,oh{{m}^{-1}}\,\,c{{m}^{2}})\]of\[BaC{{l}_{2}}\]at infinite dilution will be

    A)  139.5

    B)                         203

    C)                         279

    D)                         101.5

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Equivalence conductance = conducting power of all the ion produced by one gram equivalent of an electrolyte. Since, Eq. wt. of\[BaC{{l}_{2}}=\frac{mol.wt.}{2}\]then \[\lambda _{BaC{{l}_{2}}}^{\infty }=\frac{1}{2}{{\lambda }^{\infty }}B{{a}^{2+}}+{{\lambda }^{\infty }}C{{l}^{-}}\]           \[=\frac{127}{2}+76\]          \[=139.5\,\,oh{{m}^{-1}}c{{m}^{2}}\]
