    Hormone responsible for ovulation is:

    A)  LH

    B)  FSH

    C)  progesterone

    D)  testosterone

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

During proliferative phase of menstrual cycle, the anterior lobe of pituitary secretes the FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone) which stimulates the ovarian follicles as well as the lining of the uterus and breasts. Therefore, the endometriuin becomes   thicker   by   rapid   cell multiplication. During the second week of reproductive cycle, most of the developing follicles die and usually one continues to mature. Now the LH (Luteinizing Hormone) blood level increases by pituitary gland which leads the process of ovulation.
