In non-cyclic  photophosphorylation, there are photolysis of 12 water molecules. How many\[{{H}^{+}}\]are formed?

    A)  \[24{{H}^{+}}\]

    B)  \[36{{H}^{+}}\]

    C)  \[12{{H}^{+}}\]

    D)  \[32{{H}^{+}}\]

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

In   noncyclic   photpphosphorylation, evolvtion of oxygen takes place. It becomes possible due to photolysis of water molecules into\[{{H}^{+}}\] and \[O{{H}^{-}}\]ions. Later on,\[O{{H}^{-}}\]ion reassociate and form water and oxygen, while\[{{H}^{+}}\]ions go to \[NAD{{P}^{+}}\](a hydrogen acceptor). Each water molecule on photolysis yields one \[{{H}^{+}}\]and\[O{{H}^{-}}\]ion. \[{{H}_{2}}OO{{H}^{-}}+{{H}^{+}}\] \[2OH+2OH2{{H}_{2}}O+{{O}_{2}}\uparrow \] So, \[12{{H}_{2}}O12O{{H}^{-}}+12{{H}^{+}}\]
