MGIMS WARDHA MGIMS WARDHA Solved Paper-2014

  • question_answer
A person travelling on a straight line moves with an uniform velocity\[{{\upsilon }_{1}}\]for some time and with uniform velocity\[{{\upsilon }_{2}}\]for the next equal interval of time. The average velocity for the entire duration is

    A)  \[({{v}_{1}}+{{v}_{2}})\]

    B)  \[({{v}_{1}}+{{v}_{2}})/2\]

    C)  \[({{v}_{1}}+{{v}_{2}})/3\]

    D)  \[(2{{v}_{1}}+3{{v}_{2}})/3\]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

If the particle moved with velocity\[{{v}_{1}}\]for time \[{{t}_{0}},\]then total time of motion\[=2{{t}_{0}}\] . The average velocity is \[=\frac{displacement}{time}=\frac{{{v}_{1}}{{t}_{0}}+{{v}_{2}}{{t}_{0}}}{2{{t}_{0}}}\]
