  • question_answer
A cyclist moves in a circular track or radius\[100\,\,m\]. If the coefficient of friction\[0.2\]. Then the maximum speed with which the cyclist can take a turn without leaving inwards, is

    A) \[14.0\,\,m/s\]

    B) \[140\,\,m/s\]

    C) \[1.4\,\,m/s\]

    D) \[9.8\,\,m/s\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    Given\[\mu =0.2\]          \[g=9.8\,\,m/{{s}^{2}}\] \[r=100\,\,m\] Maximum velocity with which the cyclist can take a circular path of radius \[r\] is \[v=\sqrt{\mu rg}\] So,\[v=\sqrt{0.2\times 100\times 9.8}\]                 \[=\sqrt{196}=14\,\,m/s\]
