If two vertices of a triangle are (6, 4) and (2,6) and centroid is (4,6), then the third vertex is

    A)  (4, 8)

    B)  (8, 4)

    C)  (6, 4)

    D)  None of these

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

     Two vertices of the triangle are (6, 4) and (2, 6) and centroid is (4, 6). Let the third vertex be\[(x,y)\]. Centroid of triangle \[(4,6)=\left( \frac{6+2+x}{3},\frac{4+6+y}{3} \right)\] \[\Rightarrow \] \[\frac{8+x}{3}=4,\frac{10+y}{3}=6\] \[\Rightarrow \] \[8+x=12,10+y=18\] \[\Rightarrow \] \[x=12-8,y=18-10\] \[\Rightarrow \] \[x=4,y=8\]
