  • question_answer
The solubility product of calcium sulphate is\[1\times {{10}^{-10}}\]. What will be the concentration of calcium ions in its saturated solution?

    A)  \[1\times {{10}^{5}}\]

    B)  \[1\times {{10}^{-10}}\]

    C)  \[1\times {{10}^{-5}}\]

    D)  \[1\times {{10}^{-10}}\]

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

     \[CaS{{O}_{4}}C{{a}^{2+}}+SO_{4}^{2-}\] \[{{K}_{sp}}={{S}^{2}}\] where,\[{{K}_{sp}}=\]solubility product \[S=\]solubility \[\because \] \[{{K}_{sp}}=1\times {{10}^{-10}}\] \[\therefore \] \[{{S}^{2}}=1\times {{10}^{-10}}\] \[S=1\times {{10}^{-5}}\] Hence, solubility or concentration of \[C{{a}^{2+}}\]ion is\[1\times {{10}^{-5}}\].
