  • question_answer
What is the stoichiometry coefficient of\[Ca\]in the following reaction? \[Ca+A{{l}^{3+}}\xrightarrow[{}]{{}}C{{a}^{2+}}+Al\]

    A)  2

    B)  1

    C)  3

    D)  4

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

\[Ca\xrightarrow[{}]{{}}C{{a}^{2+}}+2{{e}^{-}}\] ?..(i) \[A{{l}^{3+}}+3{{e}^{-}}\xrightarrow[{}]{{}}Al\] ?.(ii) Equation (i) is multiplied by 3 and equation (ii) is multiplied by 2 and then add the both equation. \[3Ca\xrightarrow[{}]{{}}3C{{a}^{2+}}+6{{e}^{-}}\] \[\underline{\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,2A{{l}^{3+}}+6{{e}^{-}}\xrightarrow[{}]{{}}2Al}\] \[3Ca+2A{{l}^{3+}}\xrightarrow{{}}3C{{a}^{2+}}+2Al\] Hence, the stoichiometry coefficient of\[Ca\]is 3 in the above equation.
