  • question_answer
The heat required to increase the temperature of 4 moles of a monoatomic ideal gas from 273 K to 473 K at constant volume is

    A)  200 H

    B)  400 R

    C)  800 J

    D)  1200 R

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

     Specific heat for a mono-atomic gas \[{{C}_{V}}=\frac{3}{2}R\] \[\therefore \]Heat, \[dQ=\mu {{C}_{V}}\Delta T\] \[dQ=4\times \frac{3}{2}\times R(473-273)\] \[=4\times \frac{3}{2}\times R\times 200\] \[\therefore \] \[dQ=4\times 300R\]     \[(\because \mu =4)\] \[=1200R\]
