RAJASTHAN PMT Rajasthan - PMT Solved Paper-1996

  • question_answer
Two waves represented as \[x=a\,\sin (\omega t+\pi /6),\,x=a\,\cos \varepsilon t,\] then resultant phase difference between them is:

    A) \[\pi /\text{3}\]

    B) \[\pi /\text{6}\]

    C) \[\pi /\text{2}\]

    D) \[\pi \]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    Equations of waves is \[x=a\,\,\sin (\omega t+\pi /6)\] \[{{x}^{1}}=a\,\,\cos \,\omega t\] \[=a\,\sin (\omega t-\pi /2)\] Comparing these equations with \[x=a\,\sin (\omega t+\phi )\] \[{{\phi }_{R}}=\frac{\pi }{6},\,{{\phi }_{2}}=\frac{\pi }{2}\] Phase difference             \[\Delta \phi =\frac{\pi }{2}-\frac{\pi }{6}=\frac{\pi }{3}\]
