RAJASTHAN PMT Rajasthan - PMT Solved Paper-2001

  • question_answer
Three capacitors of capacity \[1\mu F\] each, are connected in such a way, that resultant capacity is \[1.5\,\mu F,\] then:

    A)   all the capacitors are joined in series

    B)  all the capacitors are joined in parallel

    C)  two capacitors are in parallel, while third is in scries.

    D)  two capacitors are in series, while third is in parallel

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

    Combining two capacitors in series combination \[\Rightarrow \]                               \[\begin{align}   & \frac{1}{C}=\frac{1}{1}+\frac{1}{1} \\  & C=0.5 \\ \end{align}\] Now, forming one capacitors in parallel with this combination, total capacity = 0.5+1=1.5
