  • question_answer
The chemical formula of starch is:

    A)  \[{{\text{(}{{\text{C}}_{\text{6}}}{{\text{H}}_{\text{10}}}{{\text{O}}_{\text{5}}}\text{)}}_{\text{n}}}\]

    B)  \[{{\text{(}{{\text{C}}_{\text{6}}}{{\text{H}}_{\text{12}}}{{\text{O}}_{6}}\text{)}}_{\text{n}}}\]

    C)  \[{{\text{(}{{\text{C}}_{12}}{{\text{H}}_{\text{22}}}{{\text{O}}_{11}}\text{)}}_{\text{n}}}\]

    D)         \[\text{C}{{\text{H}}_{3}}\text{CO}{{\text{O}}_{11}}\text{H}\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Starch is a homoglycan polysaccharides consist of D glucose chain Joined by 1, 4 \[\text{-}\]D polyglucusidic bonds.  Its chemical formula is \[{{({{C}_{6}}{{H}_{10}}{{O}_{5}})}_{n}}\] which comprises two main component water soluble amylose (about                20%) and water insoluble amylopectin (about 80%).
