  • question_answer
A prism has a refracting angle of \[60{}^\circ \]. If it produces a minimum deviation of \[30{}^\circ \] in an incident ray, the angle of incidence is

    A) \[15{}^\circ \]

    B) \[30{}^\circ \]

    C) \[45{}^\circ \]

    D)        \[60{}^\circ \]

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

    Given: angle of prism \[A=60{}^\circ \] , minimum deviation \[{{\delta }_{m}}=\] \[30{}^\circ \] \[\therefore \]Angle of incidence \[i=\frac{A+{{\delta }_{m}}}{2}\] \[=\frac{60{}^\circ +30{}^\circ }{2}=45{}^\circ \]
