    Solution :

    When unpolarised light passes through a polarbid, intensity of emergent light, \[I={{I}_{0}}{{({{\cos }^{2}})}_{mean}}\] \[={{I}_{0}}\times \frac{1}{2}=\frac{{{I}_{0}}}{2}\]
