    Three spheres have radii 7.5 cm, 8.5 cm and 9.5 cm respectively. Which sphere exerts maximum pressure on earth?

    Solution :

    Pressure \[\text{=}\frac{\text{Force}}{\text{area}}\] or            \[P=\frac{F}{A}\] \[\Rightarrow \]               \[P\propto \frac{1}{A}\] \[\Rightarrow \]               \[\Rightarrow P\propto \frac{1}{{{r}^{2}}}\]        \[(\therefore A=A\pi {{r}^{2}})\] Therefore, the sphere which has lesser area, will exert maximum pressure. Since, first sphere has small radius, so, its area will be small. Hence, it will exert maximum pressure.
