    Which has minimum solubility?

    A)  \[B{{i}_{2}}{{S}_{3}}\]

    B)  \[A{{g}_{2}}S\]

    C)  \[CoS\]

    D)  \[PbS\]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

     Solubilities of salts are as follows: \[B{{i}_{2}}{{S}_{3}}=\sqrt[5]{\frac{{{K}_{Sp}}}{108}}=\sqrt[5]{\frac{1.6\times {{10}^{-72}}}{108}}=1.7\times {{10}^{-15}}\] \[A{{g}_{2}}S=\sqrt[3]{\frac{{{K}_{sp}}}{4}}=\sqrt[3]{\frac{1.6\times {{10}^{-49}}}{4}}=3.4\times {{10}^{-17}}\] \[PbS=\sqrt{{{K}_{sp}}}=\sqrt{1.1\times {{10}^{-29}}}\] \[=3.3\times {{10}^{-15}}\] \[CoS=\sqrt{{{K}_{sp}}}=\sqrt{2\times {{10}^{-27}}}\] \[=4.5\times {{10}^{-14}}\] Hence,\[A{{g}_{2}}S\]is least soluble. So minimum solubility is of\[A{{g}_{2}}S\]as its force of attraction is greatest.
