    Artery Vein
    Have thick elastic, muscular walls, Have thin, non-elastic walls.
    Lumen is narrow. Lumen is wide.
    Carry oxygenated blood from heart to other body parts (except pulmonary artery). Carry deoxygenated blood from all body parts to heart (except pulmonary veins).
    Valves are absent. Valves are present to prevent the back flow of blood.
