also used in textile industry.
(ii) Sodium
carbonate: It is used : (i) in laundries and in softening of water (ii) in
the manufacture of glass, sodium silicate, paper, borax, caustic soda and as a
laboratory reagent.
(iii) Quick lime: It is used (i) in the
purification of sugar, in the manufacture of caustic soda and dyestuffs, (ii)
as a cheap alkali, i.e., as acid neutraliser.
