12th Class Chemistry Amines

  • question_answer 2)
    (i) Write the structures of different isomeric aminescorresponding to the molecular formula, . (ii) Write IUPAC names of all the isomer (iii) What type of isomerism is exhibited by different pairs of amines?   (i) Recall the definition of isomerism; rules of IUPAC nomenclature; types of isomerism. (ii) Draw all the structures possible for molecular formula  and give their IUPAC name according to rules. (iii) Also compare all the structures to find the property like chain length, position of functional group, nature of functional group etc. in which the structures differ.

    Answer:

    (i) and (ii) Eight isomers of  are: (a) (b) (c) (d) (e) (f) (g)                         (iii) Isomerism exhibited by different amines are; (a) Chain isomers i.e., have different carbon chains (a) and (b);(c) and (d); (b) Position isomers i.e., functional group occupy differentpositions, (b) and (c); (b) and (d); (a) and (d) (c) Metamers .i.e., different alkyl groups are attached to the same functional group, (e) and (f) ; (g) and (e) (d) Functional isomers i.e., have different functional groups. Allthe three categories (1°, 2° and 3°) of amines are the functionalisomers of each other.
