  • question_answer 1)
Glucose or sucrose are soluble in water but cyclohexane orbenzene (simple six membered ring compounds) are insoluble in water. Explain. Molecules which have polar nature or are capable to form hydrogen bondare generally soluble in water.

    Answer:

In glucose  groups are present and insucrose  groups are present, which are polar innature. They are involved in intermolecular hydrogen bonding withwater molecules, so these compounds are readily soluble in water. Benzene  and cyclohexane  are hydrocarbons. They do nothave any polar group so they cannot make hydrogen bonds with water. Therefore, they are insoluble in water.
