     Describe a method for the refining of nickel.

    Answer:

    Nickel is refined by Mond's process. When impure nickel is heated in a stream of carbon monoxide, it forms volatile nickel carbonyl. The nickel carbonyl when subjected to still higher temperature undergoes thermal decomposition to give pure nickel metal.
