    Use Lenz's law to determine the direction of induced current in the situations describe by Figure:                 (a) A wire of irregular shape turning into a circular shape                 (b) A circular loop being deformed into narrow straight wire.  

    Answer:

    (a) The flux linking with the loop increase in this case so flux produced by induced current should decrease it the direction of induced current should produce magnetic field in a direction outwards the plane of the paper. The direction of current as per right hand thumb rule comes out to be alongadcba. (b) In this case the flux linking with loop is decreasing so the direction current comes out to be opposite that of loop in figure (a) i.e., a’ d’c’b’a’.
