Why do you think many teachers rejected prevalent religious beliefs and practices?

    Answer:

Many teachers rejected prevalent religious beliefs and practices because they wanted to bring equality among social castes. Needless to say that the lower castes were suppressed by the upper castes. They advocated that everyone regardless of caste and creed has right to worship God. They wanted to free the right of worship God. Prevalent beliefs and practices were based on elaborate rituals which were in no way proper in the eyes of many of the teachers. Hence, they tried to simplify the rituals. They insisted on the purity of character and mind.
