    What is water harvesting? How is it a good measuring overcoming shortage of water?      

    Answer:

    (i) Rainwater harvesting is a technique of collecting rainwater and storing it in tanks or channeling it into the water table through handpumps. Other methds are building check dams and channeling water into lakes and ponds.                             (ii) Rainwater harvesting is especially popular in Rajasthan where there is a shortage of water and the water from the rooftops is collected and sent through pipes into underground tanks called ‘Tankas' to toes used when there is shortage of water                              (iii) By channelling the surface runoff water into the ground, the waters table level can be increased and the water can be used when needed.
