    Answer:

    The basic characteristic for all living organisms is the kind of cells they are made of. This is because : (i) All eukaryotic cells have membrane-bound organelles. These have a nucleus which controls the cellular processes to be carried out systematically. (ii) These cells grow and become multicellular organisms and take up their specific functions.
