What do you think would be the observation if the a-particle scattering experiment is carried out using a foil of a metal other than gold?

    Answer:

On using the foil of heavy metal like gold (e.g: platinum, silver etc) the observation will be same but if the foil is of light metal (eg: sodium, magnesium etc), the massive a-particles may push the nucleus aside and may not be deflected back.
