Find the probabilities of the events given in Question 2.

    Answer:

There are in all 6 outcomes when a die is thrown. (i) (a) Getting a prime number consists of 3 outcomes only \[\therefore \] Probability of getting a prime number \[=\frac{3}{6}=\frac{1}{2}\] (i) (b) getting a non-prime number consists of 3 outcomes only \[\therefore \] Probability of getting a non-prime number \[=\frac{3}{6}=\frac{1}{2}\] (ii) (a) Getting a number greater than 5 has only one outcome.  \[\therefore \] Probability of getting a number greater than \[5=\frac{1}{6}\] (ii) (b) Getting a number not greater than 5 has 5 outcomes only \[\therefore \] Probability of getting a number not greater than \[5=\frac{5}{6}\].
