The lid of a rectangular box of sides 40 cm by 10 cm is sealed all round with tape. What is the length of tape required?

    Answer:

Given, length of lid of a rectangular box = 40 cm and breadth of the lid of a rectangular box = 10 cm Length of the tape required = Perimeter of the lid of the rectangular box \[=2\times \](Length + Breadth) \[=2\times (40\,cm+10\,cm)=2\times 50\,cm=100\,\,cm\] or \[1\,\,m\] \[[\because 1cm=\frac{1}{100}m\,or\,100\,cm\,=1m]\] Hence, the length of tape required is 100 cm or 1 m.
