                  Hydrochloric acid is produced in our stomach. It helps in the digestion of food without harming the stomach.                                      (1) Sometimes, excess of HCI is produced in the stomach which causes pain, irritation and indigestion. It can be   cured   by   taking   an   antacid   like sodium bicarbonate or milk of magnesia.                                                         (1) The alkali present in the remedy neutralises the excess acid and cures the problem.        (1)
