How do metal carbonates and metal hydrogen carbonates react with acids ?

    Answer:

All metal carbonates and hydrogen carbonates react with acids to form a corresponding salt, carbon dioxide and water. (1)           Metal carbonate + Acid Salt + Carbon dioxide + Water, Metal hydrogen carbonate + Acid  Salt + Carbon dioxide + Water                                (1) For example, sodium carbonate reacts with dilute hydrochloric acid as follows (1) Sodium hydrogen carbonate reacts with dilute hydrochloric acid as follows  (1) On passing the liberated gas  through lime water the white precipitates of  is obtained. On passing excess carbon dioxide, the solution of calcium hydrogen carbonate is obtained which is soluble in water.
