Hormones are the chemical compounds released by stimulated cells that can diffuse to various locations in plants and perform different functions. Plant hormones are also called as phytohormones. Types of plant hormones are (i) Auxins They are synthesised at shoot tips. They help the cell to grow longer. It prefers to stay at dark regions of plant (regions away from light). (ii) Gibberellins They help in the growth of the stem. (iii) Cytokinins They are the naturally occurring hormones. They promote cell division. They are found in areas of rapid division.
