    Take a test tube and pour a small amount of water in it. Seal its mouth with the help of a cork. Heat the test tube on a burner flame till all water turns into steam. (i) What happens to the cork? (ii) Why does it happen? (iii) What might happen in case, cork was too tightly closed?

    Answer:

                    (i) The cork blows off.                                    (ii) This happens as steam exerts greater outward force on the walls of container.            (iii) The glass tube might get burst.
