State the cause of acid rain.

    Answer:

Burning of fossil fuels such as coal and petroleum products, produces oxides of nitrogen and sulphur. On dissolving in rain, these oxides of nitrogen and sulphur form nitric acid and sulphuric acid respectively. This causes acid rain.
