      Some gases such as carbon dioxide  methane water vapours, chlorofluorocarbons, etc., prevent the escape of heat from the Earth. Such gases in the atmosphere would cause the average temperature to increase worldwide. This is called Greenhouse Effect. Ozone hole has been discovered above Antarctica.
