A number is increased by 10% and then reduced by 10%, then the number

    A) Doesn?t change

    B) Decreases by 1%

    C) Increases by 1%

    D) None of these

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Let the number be ?x?. 10% of \[x=\frac{x}{10}\] Number increased by 10% i.e. number \[SP=\frac{80}{20}\times 15=Rs.60\] Now, 10% of \[\frac{11x}{10}=\frac{11x}{100}\] Now, number \[gain%=\frac{SP-CP}{CP}\times 100\] reduced by 10% i.e. number \[20=\frac{\frac{1}{2}-CP}{CP}\times 100\] Thus, we get that the number is decreased by 1%
