Ashok sells a room heater for Rs.322, gaining \[\frac{1}{6}th\] of its cost price. What is his b                                                    gain percent?

    A)  \[13\frac{2}{3}%\]

    B)         \[15\frac{2}{3}%\]

    C)  \[16\frac{2}{3}%\]

    D)         \[17\frac{2}{3}%\]

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

       Let the C.P of the heater be Rs. x. Then, gain \[=Rs.\,\,\left( \frac{x}{6} \right)\] \[\Rightarrow \] \[S.P=Rs.\,\left( x+\frac{x}{6} \right)=Rs.\frac{7x}{6}\] \[\Rightarrow \] \[\frac{7}{6}x=322\] \[\Rightarrow \] \[x=\left( 322\times \frac{6}{7} \right)=276\] \[\therefore \] C.P = \[Rs.\,276\] and S.P \[=Rs.\,\,322\] \[\Rightarrow \] Gain = \[(S.P)-(C.P)\] \[=Rs.\,\,(322-276)=Rs.\,\,46\] \[\Rightarrow \]Gain % \[=\left( \frac{Gain}{C.P}\times 100 \right)%\] \[=\left( \frac{46}{276}\times 100 \right)%=\frac{50}{3}%=16\frac{2}{3}%\] Hence, gain % \[=16\frac{2}{3}%\]
