DIRECTION: Students of a school are standing in rows and columns in their playground for drill practice. A, B, C and D are the position of the four students as shown in the figure.
What is the difference of distance between AC and AD?

    A)  2 units

    B)  \[2.14\]units

    C)  8 units

    D)         \[2.3\]units

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

    From the given figure, Coordinates of A, B, C and D are respectively \[(3,5),\,(7,1),\,(11,5)\]and \[(7,9)\] Distance from A to C             \[=\sqrt{{{(11-3)}^{2}}+{{(5-5)}^{2}}}=8\] units Distance from A to D             \[=\sqrt{{{(7-3)}^{2}}+{{(9-5)}^{{}}}}=4\sqrt{2}\] units \[\therefore \]  Required difference \[=8-4\sqrt{2}=2.34\]units
