Answer:
(a) Erasmus was critical because he feared that rebellious and seditious thoughts would spread and the existing norms of society would be threatened.
(b) Due to the influence of religious literature Manocchio reinterpreted the message of the Bible and formulated a view of God and Creation which infuriated the Roman Church. Ultimately he was executed for heresy. This led the church to impose severe control over publishers to maintain an Index of prohibited Books from 1558.
