    A body of 2 kg has an initial speed 5ms?1. A force acts on it for some time in the direction of motion. The force  time graph is shown in figure. The final speed of the body.

    A)                                 \[9.25\,m{{s}^{-1}}\]

    B)                                 \[5\,m{{s}^{-1}}\]

    C)                                 \[14.25m{{s}^{1}}\]

    D)                                    \[4.25m{{s}^{1}}\]

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

                                    Impulse = Change in momentum \[=m({{v}_{2}}-{{v}_{1}})\]     ?(i)                 Again impulse = Area between the graph and time axis                 \[=\frac{1}{2}\times 2\times 4+2\times 4+\frac{1}{2}(4+2.5)\times 0.5+2\times 2.5\]                 \[=4+8+1.625+5\] \[=18.625\]    ...(ii)                 From (i) and (ii), \[m({{v}_{2}}-{{v}_{1}})=18.625\]                 Þ\[{{v}_{2}}=\frac{18.625}{m}+{{v}_{1}}=\frac{18.625}{2}+5=14.25\ m/s\]
