    Rice (and not wheat) is the largest foodgrain in India. In India wheat is a rabi crop which is sown in October-November in most parts of North-West India where the rainfall varies from 50 to 75 cm. Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana produce over 60 per cent of India's wheat.
