\[{\scriptstyle{}^{2}/{}_{5}}\] is subtracted from a number and the difference is multiplied by 4. If 20 is added to the product and the sum is divide by 3, the result is equal to 10. Find the number.

    A)  \[\frac{29}{5}\]

    B)  \[\frac{29}{10}\]

    C)  \[\frac{6}{5}\]

    D)  \[\frac{2}{3}\]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    (b)\[\frac{\left( x-\frac{2}{5} \right)\times 4+20}{2}=10\] \[\Rightarrow \]\[\left( x-\frac{2}{5} \right)\times 4+20=30\] \[\Rightarrow \]\[\left( x-\frac{2}{5} \right)\times 4=10\] \[\Rightarrow \]\[x-\frac{2}{5}=\frac{5}{2}\] \[\Rightarrow \]\[x=\frac{5}{2}+\frac{2}{5}=\frac{29}{10}\] Cross-check as in Ans. to Q.17
