    Or
Why and how is power shared in democracies?

    Answer:

Power Sharing is desirable for various concrete reasons. Two sets of reasons have been listed out which favour power sharing in two different manners: Prudential reason, Moral reason.
Prudent Reason: Power sharing is good because it helps to reduce the possibility of conflict between social groups.
Since social conflict leads to violence and political instability power sharing is a good way to ensure the stability of political order.
Power sharing is also desirable to ensure the unity of the nation-like imposing the will of majority community over others may look like an attractive option in the short run but in the long run it undermines the unity of the nation. Hence power sharing among minority is very much required.
Moral Reason: Moral reason is a very deeper reason for power sharing in democracy.
Power sharing is the very spirit of democracy. A democratic rule involves sharing of powers with those affected by its exercise and who have to live with its effects.
In democracy people have a right to be consulted on how they are to be governed like decentralization of powers.
Besides a legitimate government is one where groups through participation acquire a stake in the system.
In this way both the sets of reasons signify the importance of power sharing in the forms of Community Government Reserved   Constituencies   or Decentralization of powers.
