    What is Parliament? State any four powers of the Parliament of India.

    Answer:

    Parliament is an assembly which is elected by representatives at the national level and exercises supreme authority on behalf of the people. The power of the Indian Parliament are as follows: (a) Parliament has the power to amend the Constitution. (b) Parliament can remove the President from office through the process of impeachment. Judge of the Supreme and High Courts can be removed by a joint address by both Houses of Parliament. (c) It is the final authority for making laws in our country. Parliament can make laws on subject of the central and concurrent list and in special cases on subjects of the state list also. (d) Parliament also has residuary powers. It means that Parliament can make laws on all those subjects which are not included in any of the three lists mentioned above.
