    Solution :

    [a]  Angle made by minute hand in 1 minute \[=6{}^\circ \]
    \[\therefore \] Angle made by minute hand in 5 minutes      
    \[=6\times 5=30{}^\circ \]
    Length of the minute hand = Radius of the sector made by minute hand,  \[\text{r}=\text{7cm}\]
    Hence, area swept by the minute hand in 5 minutes
    \[=\frac{\theta }{360{}^\circ }\times \pi {{r}^{2}}=\frac{30{}^\circ }{360{}^\circ }\times \frac{22}{7}\times {{7}^{2}}\]
