The length of a rectangle is three-fifth of the side of a square. The radius of a circle is equal to side of the square. The circumference of the circle is 132 cm. What is the area of the rectangle, if the breadth of the rectangle is 8 cm?

    A) 112.4 sq cm

    B) 104.2 sq cm

    C) 100.8 sq cm

    D) Cannot be determined

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

    [c] Let r be the radius of the circle. \[\therefore \]      \[2\,\pi r=132\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[r=\frac{132\times 7}{2\times 22}=21\,cm\] \[\therefore \]Side of the square \[=21\,\,cm\]             and length of the rectangle \[=\frac{3}{5}\times 21=12.6\,cm\] Hence, area of rectangle \[=12.6\times 8=100.8\,c{{m}^{2}}\]
