Figure A is a rectangle measuring 15 cm by 9 cm. Figure B is made up of 3 identical squares. Both the figures, A and B, have the same perimeter. Find the side of the square.

    A)  10 cm

    B)  6 cm

    C)    36 cm

    D)    64 cm

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    Perimeter of rectangle \[\text{A}=\text{2}\times (\text{15}+\text{9})=\text{48 cm}\] Side let each side of square = S Perimeter of figure \[\text{B}=\text{8}\times \text{6 S}\] Given perimeter of figure A = Perimeter of figure B \[\text{48 cm}=\text{8}\times \text{S}\] \[\therefore \] \[\text{S}=\text{4 cm}\div \text{8}=\text{6 cm}\]
