A certain amount was divided between Sneha and Sumit in the ratio 3 : 2. If Sumit's share was Rs. 3200, then the total amount is ______.

    A)  Rs. 6000

    B)  Rs. 8000

    C)  Rs. 9000

    D)  None of these

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    Let Sneha's share = Rs. 3\[X\] and Sumit's share = Rs. 2\[X\] Given that, Sumit's share = Rs. 3200 \[\Rightarrow 2X=3200\Rightarrow X=\frac{3200}{2}=1600\] \[\therefore \] Sneha's share =Rs.\[(3\times 1600)\] = Rs.4800 \[\therefore \]Total amount = Rs. \[\left( 4800+3200 \right)\text{ }=\]  Rs. 8000
