    Why do we need parliament in a Democracy?

    Answer:

    A parliament is necessary in a democracy because (a) Parliament has the power to keep the executive under control and protecting it from becoming autocracy. (b) Parliament controls the executive through various means. The most common way is to ask questions during Question Hour. Through questioning, the inefficiency of the government can be brought to light. (c) Moreover, parliament ensures that the government remains responsive to public opinion because it can pass a vote of no-confidence which can lead to the fall of the government. (d) Parliament can enact laws which have the majority support, keeps the judiciary under check by the power to impeach judges that it possesses.
